Habitat for Humanity of Michigan Receives $200,000 Grant from Consumers Energy Foundation
Grant to Support Priority Home Repair Program Across Michigan
LANSING, MI – SEPTEMBER 4, 2024 – Habitat for Humanity of Michigan is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $200,000 grant from the Consumers Energy Foundation. This generous funding will support Habitat for Humanity of Michigan’s Priority Home Repair Program, which helps low-income homeowners maintain safe and healthy living conditions.
“We are incredibly grateful for this important grant from the Consumers Energy Foundation,” said Carolyn Bloodworth, Board Chair of Habitat for Humanity of Michigan. “This funding will allow us to expand our Priority Home Repair Program, addressing critical home repair needs for low-income families across Michigan. It’s partnerships like these that truly make a difference in our communities.”
The Priority Home Repair Program focuses on addressing the most urgent and critical repair needs for low income households with the greatest attention to the health and safety of family members. Priority repairs include roof replacements, water intrusion, structural repairs, accessibility issues for aging in place, enabling healthy water, as well as septic and drain field repairs.This grant will enable Habitat for Humanity of Michigan to serve more families in need, helping to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize neighborhoods throughout the state.
“Families in Michigan are struggling right now to not only find affordable housing, but to maintain housing that is safe for them and their loved ones,” said Brandon Hofmeister, president of the Consumers Energy Foundation. “At Consumers Energy, we want everyone in Michigan to have a secure roof over their head, and that’s why we’re proud to be providing Habitat for Humanity of Michigan with this grant.”
