Themed Builds

Themed Builds

Each year Habitat for Humanity of Michigan organizes a statewide themed build.

In 2008, it was the Legislative Build.  Legislators from across the state were invited to volunteer to help build a Habitat house or work on a community development project in or near their district.  This was a huge success with more than 80 percent of the legislators participating.

In 2009, the Sports Build was organized.  Habitat affiliates invited sports teams of all kinds to volunteer at their various builds.

The theme for 2010 is the Habitat for Humanity First Family Green Build.  This is the year we are thanking Gov. Jennifer Granholm for the support she has shown Habitata for Humanity during her two terms in office.  Through her support, Habitat for Humanity affiliates have received down payment assistance grants from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority for nearly every Habitat for Humanity house built while she has been in office.
