Reports to:                         Director of Planning and Neighborhood Revitalization

Duration:                            7 Months

Hours per Week:              Approximately 34 hrs/wk

  • AmeriCorps Members will receive a living stipend of $6,750, paid biweekly on the 15th and last of the month throughout the member’s term
  • AmeriCorps members receive an Educational Award at the end of the term of $2,907.50, which is good for seven years after receipt and can be used for either tuition purposes or to repay eligible federal student loans.
  • The term of service is from May 2018 – November 2018



  • Assist in processing applications for purchase of residential property, including review of applicants’ income and other eligibility to purchase from the GCLBA.
  • Evaluate households for eligibility under the GCLBA’s MDHHS funded remediation program.
  • Meet with community groups funded under Clean and Green on program requirements and process.
  • Process applications to allow residents to maintain and garden vacant land through lease and adoption agreements.
  • Prepare documents for use in property transactions.
  • Communicate with residents and community groups on the status of rehabilitation, greening and other programming.
  • Provide excellent customer service while assisting with the processing of applications.



  • High school diploma/equivalent required. College experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident.



  • Desire and ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Good written and oral communication.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional evenings and/or weekends.
  • Excellent computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft office products.
  • Familiarity with Genesee County.
