IMPORTANT DETAILS:

  • AmeriCorps Members will receive a total living stipend of $6,750, paid biweekly on the 15th and last of the month throughout the member’s term

  • AmeriCorps members receive an Educational Award at the end of the term of $2,907.50, which is good for seven years after receipt and can be used for either tuition purposes or to repay eligible federal student loans.

  • The term of service is from April 2018 – October 2018

Role and Responsibilities 

In support of Habitat for Humanity Capital Region’s Habi-Kids program to involve elementary-aged children in Habitat for Humanity through educational workshops, the Habi-Kids Coordinator will proactively identify and target youth-focused community organizations and schools to promote Habi-Kids workshops and implement further educational opportunities. While the member will not necessarily be responsible for presenting the workshops, they will play a main role in the workshop logistics. This position’s main responsibilities will include:

  • Creating calendar and coordinating logistics for monthly Habi-Kids educational workshops
  • Recruiting and scheduling workshop presenters from the local community
  • Creating and strengthening partnerships with local schools and youth agencies to recruit workshop participants and presenters
  • Tracking participant and educator data regarding the Habi-Kids program 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma/equivalent required. College experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and oral)
  • Experience working with diverse communities
  • Experience working with youth, youth-focused agencies, or K-12 schools
  • Valid Driver’s License and regular access to vehicle 

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree related to social work, human services, or education preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM databases
  • Flexible, self-directed team player
  • Organized and proactive personality
  • Experience in project management
  • Comfortable with public speaking
