Duration:                          7 Months

Hours per Week:              Approximately 32 hrs/wk

  • AmeriCorps Members will receive a living stipend of $6,750, paid biweekly on the 15th and last of the month throughout the member’s term
  • AmeriCorps members receive an Educational Award at the end of the term of $2,907.50, which is good for seven years after receipt and can be used for either tuition purposes or to repay eligible federal student loans.
  • The term of service is from March 2018 – March 2019



  • Assist Project/Construction Manager as a priority.
  • Adhere to and enforce general safety plans and policies on all work sites.
  • Load, unload, pick up, deliver, organize or inventory materials and supplies as needed.
  • Assist on construction sites to include new builds, rehabs, critical home repair or home preservation projects as needed.
  • Participate in assessments of homes to determine needed repairs.
  • Operate general construction equipment as needed
  • Attend workshop/classes appropriate to construction and construction management
  • Provide proper and timely reporting as needed
  • Other duties as required by the Assistant Executive Director or Construction Manager



  • AmeriCorps members must be at least 18 years old (17 with parent/guardian permission)
  • Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Candidates must be either a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Able to carry up to 70 lbs. and able to stand, squat, bend and climb in and out of a truck.
  • Able to successfully pass a multi-panel drug screen



  • State of Michigan Driver’s License with a good driving record
  • Obtain a State of Michigan Chauffer’s license within 2 weeks of service.
  • Aerial Platforms/Lift Operators Certification (training provided locally)
  • First Aid and CPR Certification (training provided locally)
  • Lead Renovator Certification (training provided locally)
  • Competent Person Training by HFHI (training provided locally)
