IMPORTANT DETAILS:

  • AmeriCorps Members will receive a living stipend of $13,000, paid biweekly on the 15th and last of the month throughout the member’s term
  • AmeriCorps members receive an Educational Award at the end of the term of $5,815, which is good for seven years after receipt and can be used for either tuition purposes or to repay eligible federal student loans.
  • The term of service is from November 2017 – November 2018

 

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and operate daily volunteer tasks on the build site (registration, water, lunch, trash, pictures, orientation, etc.)
  • Communicate with volunteers on-site and from office (thank them for service, ensure enjoyable experience, recruit from within current volunteers, explain further details of Habitat)
  • Construction site liaison (be available for any volunteer related issues on the construction site from the staff, communicate volunteer needs to construction staff, be able to do brief safety orientation)
  • Computer work (maintain and update e-mail contact data base, post upcoming volunteer events, track and publish volunteer demographics)
  • Promote new and ongoing community partnerships between Habitat and local schools, service organizations, businesses, churches and individuals to focus on volunteers, homeowners, and other Habitat needs.
  • Be available to speak/attend new community groups/events about volunteers, homeowners, and other Habitat needs.
  • Identify and work with volunteers to increase affiliate exposure in the community
  • Event planning, i.e., affiliate open house to attract partner families, arrange a presence at community events, volunteer recognition, etc.
  • Develop Habitat marketing materials by utilizing social media, pictures, videos and homeowner and volunteer testimonials.
  • Create and implement new ways to recruit, thank, and engage volunteers.
  • Contact past volunteers to re-engage them in service or to engage them in serving more hours or in additional roles
  • Organize, schedule, and coordinate volunteer groups including Women Build, Care-A-Vanners, Collegiate Challenge, Campus Chapters, Build-A-Thon, ABWK, etc.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • AmeriCorps members must be at least 18 years old (17 with parent/guardian permission)
  • Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Candidates must be either a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Must be available from 7:30am-2:30pm on ALL Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the term
  • Valid driver’s license and transportation (Habitat will reimburse for mileage)
  • Have knowledge and experience managing social media pages
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, internet, email, social media

 

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Education or pursing education in marketing, communication, or non-profit management preferred
  • Photography knowledge preferred
  • Project management skills, ability to create and maintain timelines for volunteers
  • Outgoing personality, patient and understanding, good sense of humor, ability to adapt quickly to changes
  • Basic understanding of construction terminology
  • Well organized and able to manage different tasks
  • Responsible with details and follow through
  • Excellent oral and written communication – ability to speak in front of large groups
