Habitat for Humanity of Kent County (HFHKC) seeks to fill the position of Neighborhood Resident Development Manager within the Community Development Department. The NRDM is called to serve as Habitat Kent’s “ambassador” to the community and serves as the communications liaison between the selected neighborhood and HFHKC. The Manager will be responsible for overseeing and implementing resident-driven community planning processes and neighborhood outreach and engagement strategies to ensure that the voice of the community is heard and their potential maximized to create real and long-term impact. Qualified candidates should have an interest in supporting a mission-oriented non-profit organization and committed to building strong sustainable neighborhoods.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct extensive community outreach in target neighborhoods, including maintaining a strong presence at neighborhood associations, community events and public meetings
  • Establish, maintain and deepen relationships with community-based and/or faith-based organizations, schools, businesses and with grassroots leaders in the neighborhood
  • Promote Habitat Kent’s programs and services to neighborhood residents and stakeholders
  • Develop, organize and facilitate resident driven design and planning  processes such as Plaza Roosevelt, and the Grandville Avenue Area Specific Plan
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers
  • Collect neighborhood resident feedback to measure and evaluate Habitat program outcomes
  • Establish and promote programs and opportunities for resident leadership development

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Service field preferred or a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the non-profit community-based sector
  • Knowledge of Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) principles and practices
  • High energy, positive team player
  • Comfortable and adept at building relationships in diverse communities with the ability to listen and respond to diverse views
  • An ability to manage multiple projects efficiently to achieve results
  • Excellent leadership and team building skills
  • Must have excellent facilitation, analytical, problem-solving and planning skills
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, including minimum bilingual competency in English/Spanish
