Habitat for Humanity of Kent County seeks to fill the position of Grants & Data Specialist. This Specialist is responsible for developing and writing grant proposals and reports to foundations, corporations, government sources, and other grant making organizations, and will persuasively communicate Habitat Kent’s mission and programs to potential funders. Additionally, the Specialist will compile, analyze, and report on Habitat Kent program data, community data, and other data sources to demonstrate the outcomes and impact of Habitat Kent’s work to various audiences, contribute to organizational learning, and inform future planning. Reporting to the Associate Director of Development - Strategic Initiatives, the Grants & Data Specialist will assemble and edit grant requests, maintain records and compliance for government funding sources, conduct prospect research, and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines.

  • Experience in or demonstrated interest in social change, especially as related to Habitat Kent’s mission, vision, and organizational goals.  
  • Must be able to work independently and in teams, take initiative, meet deadlines, be flexible, and juggle multiple priorities.
  • Must be a creative and innovative thinker with strong skills in writing, project management, and research. Basic experience with qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis is a plus.
  • A high level of computer literacy is required, and familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or other donor database is preferred.
  • A qualified candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in communications, public relations, public or nonprofit administration, or related field. At least 2-3 years of experience with grant writing, resource development, outcome measurement, and/or nonprofit program experience is preferred. Entry-level candidates who have demonstrated the required skillset through internships and/or other work products will be considered.
  • Experience working effectively with people from diverse cultural, social, and ethnic backgrounds.
