Giving Tuesday: Give Back for the Holidays

If you know about the holiday gift giving season, then you probably also know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday: the days Americans get a jump on their holiday shopping. If you know about these two shopping days, you might continue to add to the list and include Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday is an innovative way that philanthropy tries to remind folks that during the holidays there are people and organizations in need. Amidst the holiday shopping frenzy, please don’t forget to give to the issues that are important to you in the community, state, nation and world.

This year Giving Tuesday is Tuesday, November 29th. It can be a day to give thanks for all you have and committing yourself celebrating generosity and giving. It’s a simple idea – celebrating generosity. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Please also promote your giving by tagging it in social media by using #GivingTuesday.

Of course your local Habitat for Humanity can use and would be pleased to have your support. Regardless of where you give, spread the word that giving fills you up, engages you with your community, and might even help you reduce your holiday stress!
